China Pet Import Requirements

Each pet must have 15-digit ISO 11784/11785 compatible microchip.

The pet must be at least 3 months old.

Each pet must have had 2 Rabies vaccinations given within the last 12 months, at least 30 days apart from each other, and no less than 30 days before travel. 1st Rabies vaccination must be given on or after the day the microchip was implanted to be valid.

Rabies titer test by an approved Lab done no less than 30 days after the first rabies vaccination. The second rabies vaccination can be done on the same day as the Rabies titer test.

Each pet must have their blood drawn, no less than 30 days after rabies vaccine for Rabies Antibody Titer Test (RNATT) and be sent to an approved laboratory and must have levels higher than 0.5u/ml.

Cats/Dogs must have an FVRCP/DHPPi+L vaccine given no more than 12 months and no less than 30 days before travel.

The Veterinary Certificate for China must be completed within 14 days of entry and stamped (endorsed) by the government of the exporting country responsible for the import and export of animals.

Each pet must receive internal and external parasite treatment within 5 days before departure.

Owners Baggage Declaration form picked up upon arrival in China needs to be stamped with a customs stamp.

Important Notes
We know all pet's are special - but for the extra-special snub-nosed (brachycephalic) breeds there are some specific requirements that can make navigating your adventure a little more challenging. Luckily we specialise in just these types of situations!
Temperature Control
These breeds can only fly under safe temperature conditions, often requiring cooler travel times or temperature-controlled aircraft areas.
Vet Check

IATA-Compliant Crates
- Size: Spacious enough for your pet to stand, turn, and lie down comfortably.
- Material: Fiberglass, metal, rigid plastics, welded wire mesh, solid wood or plywood (meeting IPPC standards) (There may be special requirements for certain breeds).
- Ventilation: Openings on all 4 sides to provide plenty of airflow.
- Rigid plastic containers must be securely bolted together with metal nutes and bolts.
- Spacer bars to prevent other freight from blocking ventilation.
- Labeling: Clearly marked with “Live Animal” and your contact details.

Pets are quarantined at government-approved facilities near major airports like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
Pets in transit that do not enter mainland China generally do not require quarantine, but they must remain in the designated transit area.
