Meeting Tham in Luang Prabang (2019)
We first met Tham in Luang Prabang, Laos, when he was still a puppy, alongside his new adopter. At the time, we regularly crossed paths at the Animal Doctors International (ADI) monthly clinic for vaccinations and routine health checks.
It felt routine – simply part of responsible pet ownership.
In hindsight, it was the beginning of a journey that would cross borders, cultures, and continents.
As Tham grew, he became firmly part of the family. So when his owner prepared to relocate back to San Francisco after a 12-month secondment, one decision was never in question:
Tham was coming with them.

Behind the Scenes: Tham’s Journey from Laos to San Francisco
Tham’s relocation required careful planning across multiple countries, with hands-on support at every stage.
His journey began in Luang Prabang, where a custom-measured travel crate was transported from Vientiane to ensure correct sizing and comfort.
A member of our team then accompanied Tham on his domestic flight from Luang Prabang to Vientiane, where he boarded with our in-house vets – Animal Doctors International (ADI) while export documentation was finalised.
Once paperwork was complete, one of our team personally escorted Tham from Vientiane to Ho Chi Minh City.
In Ho Chi Minh City, Tham:
- Completed his international health checks
- Enjoyed VIP boarding care
- Had his Manifested Cargo flight fully scheduled, with all documentation managed on his behalf
From there, Tham travelled on his long-haul cargo flight from Ho Chi Minh City to San Francisco, where our trusted U.S. partner ensured safe delivery directly to his family’s front door.
